Licensing
The EdgeTrack ecosystem is built around open development principles. Most software components are released under the Apache License 2.0, while hardware designs are planned to be published as open hardware.
Software License
Unless stated otherwise, software components of the EdgeTrack ecosystem are released under the Apache License 2.0.
The Apache License 2.0 allows commercial and non-commercial use, modification, distribution, and private use, while providing explicit patent protection and requiring preservation of license notices.

Hardware License
Hardware designs and electronics developed within the EdgeTrack ecosystem may be released as open hardware.
The preferred license for hardware designs is the CERN Open Hardware License Version 2 (CERN-OHL-S), which allows the study, modification, manufacturing, and distribution of hardware designs while ensuring that improvements remain openly available.

Documentation
Documentation, guides, and written materials may be released under open documentation licenses or under the same license as the corresponding software project, depending on the repository.
Repository-Specific Licenses
Individual repositories may contain their own LICENSE file. In case of differences, the license stated in the respective repository always takes precedence.
